I was listening to the Quicklime and Violet podcast, when I heard something disturbing. That something was bemoaning the thing done that it was March and Violet had not started her Christmas knitting. The brief expression that ran through my head was, “Please let fly me now!”

The sad part was that I have been in the planning stages of the Christmas knitting. I have been pulling out the sock woollen thread for the Christmas socks. I have looked through my patterns to find some palatable sock patterns. I have also identified the stash woollen thread that would be perfect for mitts. This is ill.

There are times in my the vital spark that I am forced to stand over against the reality that I in all probability suffer from a bit of obsessive compulsive confusion. This is not a revelation to those who make out me well. What is further not a revelation is what it has taken scientists years to ravel – OCD runs in families. Verily? Because without them telling me that I would have never realized that one of my grandmothers has it, one of my parents has it and haply that is why I have it.

One of the reasons knitting appeals to me is that knitting in reality enjoys it when you are OCD. Knitting loves it when you can’t close working on a throw. Knitting loves it when you rightful have to have one more set of DPN’s to knit socks with. Knitting loves it when you see woollen thread and although you have enough sock woollen thread to guard against the advent apocalypse and the following ice age, you rightful have to have that one skein of Indie dyed sock woollen thread.

Unfortunately for me, Knitting has an ill cousin, Spinning. Before I started spinning, I did not assent to that there could actually be an mode of exercise more obsessive than me on a knitting jag. I was so horribly unfair. Spinning is worse. Spinning is deceptively not burdensome. Spinning is deceptively meditative. Spinning has specifical mind rule powers. I crap thee not.

I can sit at the move on wheels and spin up three or four bobbins of singles without arrival up for air...
